Summary: | A novel idea of choosing plywood as a substrate for radio frequency applications in marine industry is investigated. Plywood is extensively employed in marine industry. Analysis of microstrip transmission line and microstrip patch antenna employing plywood as substrate is presented. The resonant frequency is set to be GPS frequency (1.5GHz). Simulation results employing ANSYS High Frequency Structure Simulator are presented. Prototype of microstrip transmission line and antenna were fabricated and measured in the L-band (1-2GHz).
