Summary:The influence of structural transformations occurring during non-vacuum electron-beam surfacing of amorphous boron powder and the corrosion resistance of surface layers of chromium-nickel austenitic steel are investigated. It is shown that during surfacing a cladding with a dense arrangement of borides is formed. X-ray phase analysis showed that the modified layer almost completely consists of borides FexBy, CrxBy or complex borides (Cr, Fe)xBy located in the austenitic matrix. In this work, it was found that layers with the obtained structure provide an increase in the corrosion resistance of the surface of 12Kh18N9T steel by 1.5 times, while also providing high wear resistance.
