Description
Summary:Many researches are carried out in the area of the disc brake of an engine driven vehicles. However, very less work is carried out in the area of disc brake testing of electric two- wheelers. So, this field of study is wide open for further improvement. There is a need for a test rig for testing the disc brake of electric two-wheelers which measures the various performance parameters of the braking system like Temperature of rotor, Braking pressure, Speed of Rotor, Stopping time and stopping distance. It will help to improve the performance of braking systems and avoiding vehicle accidents due to brake fade. This research work attempts to develop test rig for the disc brake testing of electric two-wheelers. This test rig measures the various performance parameters of the braking system and by analyzing them performance parameters of the disc brake can be optimized. Design of an experiment by the Taguchi method is applied to evaluate the performance of the disc brake. The S-N ratio graph describes that the interaction of external load and rpm of rotor has highest impact 95% on the rotor temperature and ultimately more impact on brake performance. Whereas, other factors has very less impact on the disc brake temperature and ultimately less impact on brake performance.
