Aluminum hybrid metal matrix composites are a new generation of composites that comprises of aluminum as matrix and dual reinforcements. The primary reinforcement can be ceramic oxides, borides, nitrides, carbides and secondary reinforcement can be carbonaceous nano materials. In the present work hybrid composites are manufactured with AA7075 as matrix and Al2O3 nano particles and GNPs as reinforcements manufactured by powder metallurgyprocess. The microstructural characterization is performed by SEM and XRD analysis. The results indicated uniform distribution of GNPs and nano Al2O3 in the matrix. The wear behavior of the composites was studied for different compositions and wear rate has been evaluated. The microstructural investigation of worn out surfaces indicated abrasive and adhesive wear mechanisms. |
