Summary: | In the current investigation, fused nickel based coating was deposited on a 316L stainless steel substrate using a flame spray gun. Slurry abrasion wear performance was evaluated for coating in comparison to the substrate over the range of different operating parameters. Results showed that there was 76 to 88 times lower weight loss by the use of coating on a substrate. Slurry abrasion wear behavior of this coating exhibited stronger dependence on slurry concentration as compared to load and number of revolutions. Characterization of the coatings before and after wear tests was carried out and the results were linked to the various responsible wear mechanisms. Results obtained in the current investigation can prove useful for the use of this coating in commercial applications. |
