Description
Summary:Aim of proposed paper is carried out comparative study of different substrate materials for designing 2 × 2 microstrip patch antenna array for satellite application at Ku band. Array antenna is constructed and analyzed using FR-4, Roger, Air, Glass_pyrex and ceramic as substrate materials. Different design Parameters are obtained using CST MWS studio and their comparison are performed. In the proposed array configuration, a circular patch antenna with corner truncation is used. These corner truncations are used to generate circular polarization. Approximate 60% Axial Ratio bandwidth and greater than 15dBi gain can be achieved using different substrates on the proposed technique. The sequential rotation technique is used to achieve Right-hand Circular polarization (RHCP). To reduce the effect of spurious radiations, the feeder network is connected on the back side of the patch. A Cross pol suppressor is also added in the proposed design to overcome the effect of cross-polarization.
