Weak solutions to Dirichlet problems in the Hencky deformation theory of plasticity

A minimum problem for a class of functionals defined in Orlicz-Sobolev spaces is studied. As application, the existence and uniqueness of the weak solutions to Dirichlet problems for the Hencky deformation operator are obtained.
