Description
Summary:•The recent applications of multi-way calibration in environmental matrix have been systematically introduced.•Second- and higher-order data generation is discussed.•Various available calibration models and corresponding algorithms are detailed.•The advantages and contributions of multi-way calibration methods have been emphasized. There has been an increasing concern on environmental issues in the worldwide over the last decade. Environmental pollution has diverse and substantial damages to public health.Multiway calibration has become a powerfultool in complexenvironmental matrices due to the distinctive “second-order advantage”. This review presents the recent progress of multiway calibration methods in environmental analytical chemistry. Various data types, available calibration models and corresponding algorithms, some fundamental issues and the recent application of multiway calibration methods in quantitative analysis of environmental samples were introduced in detail.
