Glycodelin is a glycoprotein mainly demonstrated in amniotic fluid, secretory endometrium, and pregnancy decidua. Current studies proved that glycodelin is a potential biomarker for various reproductive disorders such as premature ovarian failure, repetitive unprompted abortion, and inexplicable infertility. It has also been reported that glycodelin is demonstrated in various female-specific malignancies, i.e., breast cancer, endometrial cancer, and ovarian cancer, and also expressed in non-gender specific malignancies such as lung and colon cancer. This review article is the first attempt to conglomerate the methods developed for the detection of glycodelin biomarker. To the best of our knowledge, to date, there is no review article published related to biosensing technology developed for the detection of glycodelin. The Glycodelin biosensor showed 1–1000 ng/ml concentration range and 0.43 ng/ml limit of detection. There is a need for the miniaturization of glycodelin biosensing devices to assess the death process, advancement of disorders, and proper therapies. |
