Description
Summary:[Display omitted] •Chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are extremely toxic chemicals of mass destruction.•Nerve chemical agents are one of the most concerning CWAs.•Nerve-gas-mimics are applied to evaluate the ability of analytical methods.•The emerging approaches for detection of nerve-gas-mimics were reviewed in this article. Nerve chemical agents are one of the most concerning chemical warfare agents (CWAs), which are highly toxic chemicals employed in compounds of mass destruction. Their disposal effects may persist in the environment for a long time, intake in live organisms’ bodies, interfere with the nervous system function, cause permanent health damage, and mostly death in lethal doses. To provide the experiment safety, the nerve-gas-mimics diethylchlorophosphate (DCP), diethylcyanophosphonate (DCNP), and diisopropylfluorophosphate (DFP) are applied to simulate the ability of different methods to detect the real nerve gases. In this article, the emerging instrumental analysis approaches for the detection and qualification of nerve agent mimics were reviewed.
