Description
Summary:Relaxation phenomena in ferroelectric/antiferroelectric 1H6Bi LC compound studied. The structure of 1H6Bi molecule has been optimized and the stiffness of the molecule with respect to some of its chemical bonds has been estimated. Broadband dielectric measurements of 1H6Bi showed a number of relaxation modes corresponding to various LC phases. The parameters of the modes are presented and interpreted. •Rod-like and arc-like conformers of 1H6Bi molecule are found to exist.•The arc-like molecules possess comparatively great both dipole moment and its y-component perpendicular to the long axis of molecules.•Ferrielectric SmCγ⁎ subphase, not registered before by DSC measurements, is suggested to exist in the temperature range 48°C and 88°C.
