Description
Summary:4-Nitrophenyl[bis(benzylthio)]methane was synthesized and used in structural study by X-ray diffraction combined with NMR and spectrophotometric method. In the crystal structure the molecule assumes the conformation where the acidic H-atom is difficult to access due to sterical hindrances of three surrounding phenyls. The acidic properties of 4-nitrophenyl[bis(benzylthio)]methane have been compared and discussed with the analogous disulfonyl carbon acid 4-nitrophenyl[bis(benzylsulfonyl)]methane.
