Summary:Zinc terephthalate metal-organic framework catalyzed one-pot, three-component reaction of 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazoles, aromatic aldehydes and barbituric acid to prepare some new pyrimido[4,5-d][1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidinediones. The reactions conducted under ultrasonic irradiation and solvent-free conditions with good to excellent yields of products. The zinc terephthalate metal-organic framework catalyst could be recovered by a simple filtration and applied in consecutive runs with no significant decrease in the yield. The method was demonstrated to be a truly green process with economics and sustainability.
