Description
Summary:•Various analytical techniques were used to characterize the modification of TSP with TiCl4.•Efficient synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans and 1,8-dioxooctahydroxanthenes derivatives.•Reusable catalyst for at least for 5 runs.•The reactions were performed under mild and green conditions. We have synthesized titanium phosphate (TiCl4/TSP) using a simple impregnation method and characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM, and EDX techniques. The catalytic activity of the catalyst was explored in the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans and 1,8-dioxooctahydroxanthenes derivatives under environmentally friendly conditions. The products were synthesized in excellent yields (90–97%) within 5–15 min. The catalyst is stable for up to five consecutive cycles without a significant loss of catalytic reactivity.
