Summary: | Mantle cell lymphoma is a well-defined B-cell lymphoma entity with characteristic morphological, immunophenotypical and molecular findings. However, in the last decades significant heterogeneity of the disease has been identified with important consequences for the clinical management of the disease. Importantly, some mantle cell lymphomas show an indolent behaviour, which might be overtreated with traditionally used intensive chemoimmunotherapy regimens for this entity. In this article the clinical heterogeneity and current pathological concepts in mantle cell lymphoma are reviewed, with a focus on diagnostic hematopathology. |
