A pixel chamber to monitor the beam performances in hadron therapy

In this paper we describe the design, construction, and tests of a parallel plate ionization chamber with the anode segmented in (32×32) square pixels. The performance of the read out and data acquisition systems is also discussed. The design of the chamber has been finalized to be used as a beam mo...

Description
Summary:In this paper we describe the design, construction, and tests of a parallel plate ionization chamber with the anode segmented in (32×32) square pixels. The performance of the read out and data acquisition systems is also discussed. The design of the chamber has been finalized to be used as a beam monitor for therapeutical treatments. Position and flux resolution obtained with a carbon ion beam are presented.
