Summary:Although Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is the most common muscle disease beginning in early childhood, epidemiological studies on the disease are limited. This retrospective register study assessed the incidence and prevalence of DMD, and mortality of patients with DMD in Finland. The study population was identified from the nationwide Care Register for Health Care (Hilmo) maintained by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).
