Summary:Noma is described after endodontic procedure in a 9-year-old child. Physical examination found dehydration, tachycardia, and fever. The child presented erythema, edema, trismus, and blackened regions in the submental region and lower lip. Admission laboratory test showed leukogram of 40.650/mm3 with left-sided deviation and C-reactive protein > 9 mg/dL. Blackened tissue diffused to other regions. The patient was in a sepsis and comatose state and was referred to the pediatric intensive care unit. In examination crop injury Pseudomonas aeruginosa sensitive to amikacin was found, being added to its list of antibiotics, which obtained improvement. The child underwent surgery for surgical debridement, obtaining gradual improvement case and receiving discharge 20 days later. After 6 months, reconstructive surgery of the lower lip and chin region was performed in accompaniment to new rehabilitation procedures.
