Summary: | Oral lesions such as leukoplakia and erythroplakia are the most common premalignant diseases which can affect oral mucosa of smokers and drinkers. It is reported a case of a female, 38-year-old patient, non-smoker, non-drinker, who was diagnosed 9 years ago with moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) on her tongue. She attended to follow-up irregularly for 2 years and 9 years after OSCC-diagnosis she has returned, with complaint of burning tongue. Intraoral examination showed 2 lesions bilaterally located on the lateral border of the tongue. The first one was in the same region of her ex-OSCC, which was biopsied and leukoplakia with moderate dysplasia was confirmed; and second one was an erythematous macula clinically diagnosed as erythroplakia with moderate and intense dysplasia. The patient was referred to a head and neck surgeon to treatment of both lesions. This case illustrates the importance of clinical follow-up of OSCC-patients. |
