Description
Summary:A 54-year-old woman in good health was examined for a nodule located on the buccal surface of the attached gingiva near the region of teeth 31 and 32, present for 6 months. An excisional biopsy and curettage of the involved bone tissue was performed, and the material obtained was sent to the laboratory for microscopic examination. The diagnosis was peripheral ameloblastoma. Six months after excision of the primary lesion, the patient came to the clinic for a follow-up visit, in which the presence of an increase in volume was found in the same place. Additional exams were requested and revealed the presence of a new lesion, with possible bone and periodontal ligament involvement on the region aforementioned. Subsequently, excision of the lesion associated with peripheral osteotomy was performed, as well as extraction of the teeth involved. The material obtained was analyzed and the recurrence of peripheral ameloblastoma was confirmed.
