Summary: | The purpose of this study is present the clinical, imaging, and surgical characteristics of a fibro-osseous lesion in the posterior region of the right maxilla. A 14-year-old male patient presented with swelling in the posterior region of the right maxilla, painless on palpation, with approximately 5 years of evolution. Panoramic radiographic imaging revealed a lobular mass, irregularly shaped and radiopaque, surrounding the right maxilla, with a diagnostic hypothesis of fibro-osseous injury. Due to the extent of the lesion, the treatment of choice was surgical excision of the lesion, which was sent for histopathologic examination, confirming the diagnosis. The patient evolved without signs of recurrence, and after 1 year a good recovery was seen clinically and imaginologically. Thorough pathologic and radiographic analyses as well as good preparation of the maxillofacial surgery are important for successful resection of this lesion. |
