Summary: | A 46-year-old female patient was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and is undergoing treatment using the chemotherapy CTD protocol, followed by autologous stem cell transplantation and zoledronic acid use. Her complaints included paresthesia in the left mental region with increased volume. Physical examination revealed a 4.5cm rubbery nodule with intact epithelium. Cone-beam computed tomography revealed an osteolytic image of the medullary bone and cortical disruption in the lower left alveolar ridge. An incisional biopsy was performed, revealing a malignant process with plasma cells with positivity for CD138, CD56, MUM1, and lambda monoclonality. These features led to a diagnosis of plasmocytoma. Further imaging studies revealed widespread osteolytic lesions in other bones. The patient was then referred to the hematology department, and the VCD protocol was begun. Therefore, the multidisciplinary approach contributed to the diagnosis of the recurrence of the multiple myeloma, changing the treatment and increasing the chance of better therapeutic results. |
