Summary: | Pleomorphic adenoma is a pathological entity that can reach large proportions, compromising vital functions. The Le Fort I osteotomy offers excellent access and a direct view of the operative field in order to remove palatal tumors involving the nasal cavity without creating esthetic drawbacks, increasing safety, and minimizing the possibility of recurrence. The present case is of a 56-year-old woman, presenting left nasal obstruction with a 3-year evolution. Computed tomography showed an expansible formation, undefined limits, occupying anterior and posterior ethmoidal cells on the left and signs of cervical discontinuity with an area of bone remodeling. Upon examination, a tumoral lesion measuring 6 × 4 × 3 cm was observed in the left nasal cavity. The histopathological diagnosis was pleomorphic adenoma. The lesion was surgically approached by Le Fort I with maxillary fixation by osteosynthesis plates. The 3-month follow up showed no signs of recurrence. |
