Nondegenerate four-wave mixing in a Zeeman degenerate three-level system of cold cesium

We have experimentally investigated a nondegenerate four-wave mixing process in the Zeeman degenerate three-level system 6 S 1/2, F=4–6 P 3/2, F ′=5–6 P 3/2, F ′=4 of cold cesium atoms. Description
Summary:We have experimentally investigated a nondegenerate four-wave mixing process in the Zeeman degenerate three-level system 6 S 1/2, F=4–6 P 3/2, F ′=5–6 P 3/2, F ′=4 of cold cesium atoms. The observed spectrum presents a sub-natural double-peak structure directly evidencing the light shift induced by the strong pumping beams in the ground state levels. A simple theoretical model was developed which accounts qualitatively for the lineshape of the observed signal.
