Description
Summary:A resonator composed of two connected nonlinear optical fibre loop mirrors was investigated numerically. Results show optical bistability and instabilities in the reflected and transmitted output. The input power to induce the bistable behaviour was lower than for a similar arrangement of a single nonlinear optical loop mirror with feedback. For certain parameter values the transmitted output can be clamped to a relatively steady value, offering potential as an optical power limiter.
