Description
Summary:In this communication, a multifunctional nano-imprinted metamaterial surface is synthesized for two different applications, namely, absorber and sensor. It is observed that absorbance of metamaterial surface varies from 100 to 550 nm and provides high peak absorbance. The same surface is used for sucrose detection using surface plasmon resonance concept in infrared region, which offers good detection accuracy and moderate sensitivity. Obtained experimental results reveal that the fabricated single negative metamaterial surface can be used for both applications effectively. •The synthesized metamaterial surface is presented as a multifunctional layer.•Proposed surface is used for two applications, i.e. sensor and absorber.•The proposed metamaterial surface is easy to synthesize due to optimum dimensions.•It is also considered that this surface can be utilized in energy conservation.
