Summary:In this presentation, the results on the study of electron-phonon coupling in rare-earth iron borates RFe3(BO3)4, R = Pr, Sm, Tb, and Gd, which was carried out in our laboratory in a cooperation with other Russian and foreign institutions, are briefly reviewed. •Terahertz reflection spectra of RFe3(BO3)4, R = Pr, Sm, Tb, Gd, were studied.•Coupled electron-phonon modes were found for PrFe3(BO3)4 and TbFe3(BO3)4.•Spectra modeling revealed the value 14.8 cm−1 for the electron-phonon coupling constant in PrFe3(BO3)4.•RFe3(BO3)4 crystals can serve as mirrors for the terahertz radiation with frequency 1.5–2.1 THz.
