Description
Summary:A new archostematan beetle, Brochocoleus sonidensis sp. nov. (Insecta: Coleoptera: Archostemata) is described based on a specimen preserved in the dorsal aspect from the Lower Cretaceous Damoguaihe Formation of Inner Mongolia, China. The new species is the first body species of the genus disinterred in China and can be distinguished from the other congeners based on its largest known size, not strong forward convergence of the lateral edges of the prothorax, and the unique combination of the aspect ratios of the pronotum and head.
