Summary: | This paper analyzes the performance of the LED placement strategies based on different geometrical shapes for a pre-determined average bit error ratio. The optimally designed LED patterns have been investigated to understand the system’s energy efficiency in the full receiver mobility scenario for an indoor mobile visible light communication (VLC) system. Further, the system outage has also been analyzed for a moving receiver along with the characterization of root mean square (RMS) delay. Consequently, the bit rate of the transmission for the LED based design models has also been compared so as to employ the best mechanism for the purpose of network deployment. The investigation reveals that an appropriate choice of LED design strategy coupled with the right selection of LED semi-angle can improve the performance of various communication parameters including the overall transmitted power, number of LEDs used for full indoor mobility, average data throughput and illuminance level etc. |
