[Display omitted] ► Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ nitrates form discrete complexes with 1,3-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)propane. ► CuCl2·2H2O with 1,3-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)propane yields linear coordination polymer. ► Structures of Cu2+ and Ni2+ complexes were determined by X-ray crystallography. Complexes of 1,3-bis(pyrazole-1-yl)propane ligands with copper(II), nickel(II) and cobalt(II) ions were prepared and characterized by spectral methods and X-ray crystallography. Ligands with metal nitrates are chelating bidentate forming discrete complexes with eight-membered metallocycles. The structure of nickel(II) nitrate complex with 1,3-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)propane was determined by X-ray crystallography. In case of copper(II) chloride 1,3-bis(pyrazole-1-yl)propane adopted a bridging bidentate mode and a linear coordination polymer containing 16-membered metallocycles was formed.
