Summary: | Biomedical implants performance is strongly influenced by surface modification. Hence, especially concerning this field, it becomes helpful to investigate on surface composition and structure of biomedical implants to improve biocompatibility and antibacterial characteristics. In this regard, applying a coating as a barrier between the implant and the body environment, could enhance its functionality by, for instance, adjusting implant stiffness at the contact area with the body tissue. Using chitosan-based material, two types of materials have been coated, namely Ti6Al4V and yttria partially stabilized zirconia Y-PSZ, with the aim to evaluate the coating adhesion varying substrate material. |
