Summary: | This paper presents a preliminary analysis of EMG signals obtained during walking of healthy children. Surface Electromyography (SEMG) signals of Rectus Femoris (RF) and Biceps Femoris (BF) muscles were obtained from 6 healthy boys and 6 healthy girls aged between 9 to 13 years old. The analysis was carried out using statistical analysis to compare the muscles activities during walking between boys and girls. The normality test was used to check the data distribution. In this study, independent t-test was performed via SPSS software to examine the significant difference in mean amplitude of BF and RF muscles between boys and girls and to test the significant difference between BF and RF muscles during one gait cycle in both genders. The results showed that there is no significant difference in mean, maximum and minimum value of BF and RF muscles but there is significant difference in BF muscle between boys and girls at 90% of the gait cycle. The BF muscle shall be considered as the lower limb muscle that is the most affecting muscle during late swing of a gait cycle among healthy children. |
