Effect of Rocker Length on the Dynamic Behavior of a Coupler Link in Four Bar Planar Mechanism
It is well-known that the dynamic analysis of mechanisms operating at high speed cannot neglect the effects of link elastic flexibility. In fact this effect may affect the dynamic response of the output link motion, so that the mechanisms may fail to perform their assign tasks effectively. The dynam...

Summary: | It is well-known that the dynamic analysis of mechanisms operating at high speed cannot neglect the effects of link elastic flexibility. In fact this effect may affect the dynamic response of the output link motion, so that the mechanisms may fail to perform their assign tasks effectively. The dynamic analysis of high speed mechanism having rigid rocker length is carried out by using Finite Element Method (FEM) and the same is discussed in the present work. Moreover, the behavior of damped-flexible coupler under varying length of rigid rocker length is analyzed. Modeling and simulation of mechanism has been analyzed by using ANSYS and results are found to be in agreement with the experimental result mention in literature. It is observed that increase in length of rocker link gives rise in the strain value in middle of the coupler link and hence the length of rocker link should be kept as minimum as possible. |
