Description
Summary:After reviewing the research literature in psychotherapy, we found that the studies have increasingly sustained the idea that psychotherapy overestimates theoretical models, by minimising the impact of the therapist variables on the therapeutic process. This study aimed at investigating the differences between personality and values variables of therapists belonging to different theoretical orientations. We assumed that we would find significant differences in the personality variables of therapists belonging to different orientations. Specifically, we expected that the psychotherapists of each main orientation would differentiate through certain personality variables. We have discussed the implications for professional development of the psychotherapists.
