Description
Summary:The aim of this study was to examine the trait anger, anger expression styles as a predictors of suicidal behavior among university students. Participants were 647 students. Trait Anger-Anger Expressions Scale and Sociodemographic Form were administered. Among students, 18.3% had a history of suicide attempt/plan/ideation. The risk factors behind suicidal behavior were trait anger and academic achievement. Results revealed that high trait anger and low academic achievements are predictors of suicidal behavior, which underlines the importance of assessing trait anger and training expression of emotions in university students that can also serve as broader preventive targets related to health-damaging and life-threatening behaviors.
