Description
Summary:This paper aims to identify the main causes that led to the decrease of high school graduates who continue their university studies. This approach is based on content analysis of statistical data regarding the evolution of the school population in Romanian education. Due to the analysis, the number of high school graduates declined in 2008-2012 by 14.06% while the number of tertiary graduates decreased by 41.31%. Conclusions drawn are reducing the number of high school graduates due to the country's low birth rate and poor high school graduation exam. Also, the low number of graduates with tertiary education is the result of decreasing interest of high school graduates to continue their studies.
