Summary: | •Modified Reverchon–Sesti Osseo model is used to model the kinetics of SFE.•Extraction kinetics of sage leaves and jatropha seeds are well fitted to the model.•Application of the model may be extended to the extraction of other bio-materials.
In this study, the modelling of supercritical carbon dioxide extraction of sage leaves at different temperatures between the range of 40–60°C and jatropha seeds at 50°C are studied. These extraction processes are modelled using modified Reverchon–Sesti Osseo model equation at different temperature ranges. The influence of temperature on the total extract yield of sage are investigated. It is found that the modified Reverchon–Sesti Osseo model equation provides a good fit with respect to the experimental yield of total extracts of sage leaves and jatropha seeds over the entire range of experimental conditions explored. |
