Description
Summary:Electrodeposited composite coatings show a large development potential thanks to particular properties obtained by the incorporation of particles. In the present work, we describe the electrodeposition of pure nickel and the codeposition of Ni–SiC on preheated substrates of steel using nickel chloride fluid with organic additives. Traditional characterization tests such as adherence, corrosion behavior in 0.6M NaCl, optical and scanning electronic microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Vickers microhardness permitted us to conclude that the presence of organic additives has directly a positive influence on the crystalline structure and the morphology of elaborated coatings.
