Description
Summary:A high flow oxygen delivery system has not yet been reported for intraoperative apneic oxygenation during robotic ureteroscopies. In this case report our primary aim was to present the potential advantages of high flow oxygen to optimize oxygenation and prevent desaturation intraoperatively. A 42 year old, male, smoker patient was admitted for treatment of renal stones. During robotic interventions, 10 minute periods of apneic oxygenation were performed and repeated 6 times. At the end of 1 hour apneic period the vital parameters were all stable. No complication was recorded. Endourological working conditions were improved as the kidneys remained immobile. We demonstrated that intraoperative high flow oxygenation systems applied through the tracheal tube can be used safely in robotic urological interventions.
