Description
Summary:The purpose of this work is to offer a grouping of the aspects that the literature addresses on Industry 4.0 and its relationship with the supply chain, to contribute an innovative literature review and bibliometric analysis technique, and to detect gaps in the research and how these can be covered in the future. The Industry 4.0 concept originated in manufacturing but has evolved over recent years and extended beyond the limits of the focal company to embrace the entire supply chain. This study applies a variety of techniques sequentially. First, the initial phases of a Systematic Literature Review are applied to identify, select, and evaluate documents for analysis. Subsequently, Artificial Intelligence/Natural Language Processing techniques are applied to identify research topics and group articles. Lastly, bibliometric analysis techniques are applied using an innovative tool that enables dynamic data association. A total of 41 research topics are identified that produce a grouping of 663 articles in 8 clusters. The obtained results are used for an analysis of the extant literature, the detection of gaps, and proposals to guide future research in the Industry 4.0 and supply chain sphere. •Analyzes 663 papers on Industry 4.0 (I4.0) and Supply Chain.•Develops a novel methodology: a Systematic Science Mapping analysis.•Provides a dashboard for better visualization and analysis of the results.•Presents a comprehensive overview of the state-of-knowledge on I4.0 and Supply Chain.•Identifies gaps and promising ideas for future research on I4.0 and Supply Chain.
