Summary: | In situ generated silver-acetylide was employed as nucleophile in reaction with isothiocyanates and epoxides to form 1,4-oxathian-3-imine derivatives. Reaction outcome depends highly on the reaction conditions and the particular catalyst employed. Optimum conditions are developed using silver carbonate in dioxane at 55 °C for 18–26 h.
