A direct method for the synthesis of nucleoside 5′-methylenebis(phosphonate)s from nucleosides

[Display omitted] An efficient method for the preparation of nucleoside 5′-methylenebis(phosphonate)s has been developed. Unprotected nucleosides are phosphonylated directly with methylenebis(phosphonic dichloride). Reaction conditions were optimized to prevent side product formation.
