Description
Summary:► Hydrophilic interaction (liquid) chromatography (HILIC) separation systems. ► HILIC has great potential applications for separations of polar compounds. ► HILIC is an interesting alternative for separations that are problematic. In the early 1990s, hydrophilic interaction (liquid) chromatography (HILIC) emerged as a new separation method. HILIC is becoming increasingly popular for the separation of polar compounds in aqueous-organic mobile phases rich in organic solvents (usually acetonitrile). It has become important for the separation of pharmaceuticals, neurotransmitters, nucleosides, nucleotides and other compounds. This review presents an overview of HILIC separation systems, comparing it to several other recently described modes.
