Summary: | The emergence and prevalence of drug-resistant foodborne pathogens have posed a great threat to food safety and public health. Therefore, rapid, sensitive, reliable, and on-site detection methods are of great significance for treating drug-resistant foodborne pathogen infections and preventing foodborne disease outbreaks and epidemics. In recent years, a great many analytical methods and on-site analytical devices have been developed for the detection of drug-resistant foodborne pathogens. This review comprehensively summarized the recent advances in analytical methods for drug-resistant foodborne pathogens. Firstly, a comprehensive summary and discussion on conventional detection methods for drug-resistant foodborne pathogens was conducted. Then, the latest advances in emerging biosensing technologies and on-site analytical devices for the detection of drug-resistant foodborne pathogens were comprehensively reviewed, and the advantages and disadvantages of these advanced analytical technologies were further compared and discussed. Impressively, future opportunities and challenges in this promising field were proposed.
