Description
Summary:There is a significant increase of transport performance, especially in the international road freight transport. Higher intensity of vehicles and related negative situations result into difficulties in meeting the deadlines of goods’ loading and unloading, as well as the obligation to take mandatory safety breaks and rest times. From 15th of June 2019, intelligent tachographs linked with GNSS have been implemented to all newly registered freight vehicles in EU Member States. Control of compliance with social legislation will be possible to make remotely through vehicles monitoring. The simple question arises: Is there in Slovakia enough parking lots for freight transport vehicles and are they equipped on sufficient level for drivers and their needs and safety? The main goal of this paper is the analysis of current state of parking areas in the Slovak republic. Based on the analysis, we design a methodology for evaluation parking areas with application on the conception settled in 2004, as well as a methodology for calculation of sufficient number of parking lots. We are also interested in possibilities of using intelligent transport systems for active navigation of trucks to available parking lots and possibility to reserve parking place
