Summary: | The area of the Arctic Region of Russia is approximately 10 million square kilometers. About 40% of Russia’s oil reserves and more than half of its gas reserves are concentrated here, which makes it attractive for development. However, the Arctic has not yet been fully developed. This is due to permafrost, cold climate, and the lack of logistics in the area. It is crucial to maintain a wide front of research in the North at the proper level since it is important for the development of the economic potential of the region and strengthening of the country’s defense. Therefore, it is necessary to create conditions stimulating the investment of resource-extracting companies and the use of all available capacities. In this article, we suggest using cold to advantage.
The effective use of natural and climatic features of the Arctic is possible not only when organizing industrial enterprises but also when creating a favorable living environment for their personnel. On the one hand, low average annual temperatures constitute an obstacle for reducing the costs of maintaining living conditions, and on the other hand, they make it possible to form efficient clusters for computing equipment of all kinds, which requires a cooling system. For this kind of equipment, a decrease in the ambient temperature by 20–30 degrees eliminates the need to use expensive liquid cooling systems. |
