Description
Summary:•Experimental investigation of PV/T collector in winter and summer weather conditions.•Overall thermal energy collected on 23rd February was 44.604 MJ.•Average thermal and electrical efficiency were 21.9%, and 8.67%.•Exergy efficiency during summer and winter days was 8.1% and 8.79%, respectively. In the present study, an innovative PV/T collector was experimentally investigated under the climatic conditions of Jammu, India. Measurements were taken throughout the day to record the hourly changes in the tank’s water temperature, ambient temperature, and solar radiation. The power output from the panels was also recorded to evaluate the electrical performance. The experimental results were obtained from observations from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, covering a day with summer and winter conditions. The collected experimental data is subjected to thorough analysis involving performance metrics. Key performance indicators such as the system’s thermal, electrical, exergy, and energy efficiency are calculated for winter and summer weather conditions. The outcomes of this research can guide the development and deployment of PV/T systems in practical applications, where the co-generation of heat and electricity can lead to enhanced energy utilization efficiency.
