Summary: | The present research focused on the interaction between oxide films of different alloys in presence of freshwater biofilm. The electrochemical behavior of freshwater biofilm/oxide films of alloys were investigated using the open circuit potential measurements, cathodic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry studies. The cyclic voltammetry studies shows that biofilm on the 316L SS was entirely different from other alloys due to their oxidation peak and reduction peak which identified at +0.24 V and 0 V vs SCE respectively. The present study revealed that the nature of oxide films was responsible for the electrochemical behavior of biofilms on the alloy steels.
