Summary:Cataract surgery remains one of the most common surgical procedures to restore vision around the world. As cataract surgery equipment, techniques, and implant technology continue to advance, visual expectations after cataract surgery also have become more demanding. Various corneal pathology can affect visual outcomes after cataract surgery that need to be taken under careful consideration for each patient undergoing cataract surgery. This review focuses on cataract surgery considerations in patients that have concurrent epithelial basement membrane dystrophy, pterygium, keratoconus, contact lens use, Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy, penetrating keratoplasty, or radial keratotomy.
