Summary: | An effective synthetic method for unsymmetrical carbonate species has been developed. Calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide were found to be highly effective for this reaction, affording unsymmetrical carbonates in high yield and purity. Calcium chloride, which is a coproduct, serves as a water scavenger that can be easily removed. Additional drying processes and complicated purification steps are not necessary in this reaction. This improved process is important in terms of green sustainable chemistry principles. |
